The best new points hotels for families in 2025

No matter who I’m traveling with, I always seek out hotels that participate in major hotel loyalty programs, so I can earn points and enjoy elite status benefits like room upgrades and late checkout.

Aside from that, though, the types of hotels I look for when traveling with my husband and kids can differ vastly from those I consider when traveling solo or with friends.

When I’m traveling with my family, at the very least, I need enough beds for everyone to sleep in, a bathroom that’s big enough for all of us to get ready and an easily accessible pool. Ideally, I’ll also find a place within walking distance of local attractions, with kid-friendly activities and maybe a waterslide or two.

Regardless of exactly what you look for in a family-friendly points hotel, there are some impressive new properties you should add to your search. Here are 14 of our favorite new points hotels for families.

Dreams Estrella del Mar Mazatlan Golf & Spa Resort

Dreams Estrella del Mar Mazatlan Golf & Spa Resort is an all-inclusive resort on the Pacific coast of Mexico.

This 358-room beachfront resort opened in April 2024 and boasts family-friendly amenities. These include a kids club (ages 4-12) and a teens club (ages 13-17), a pool complex with two family pools, an adults-only pool and hot tub, a lazy river and a water park; there’s also a daily schedule of entertainment and activities that families can enjoy together. Among the popular activities on offer, families can visit the Estrella del Mar Turtle Sanctuary — the largest in the state of Sinaloa — to learn about turtles and their conservation. They can even help release bay turtles into the ocean.

The hotel’s four restaurants offer dining options ranging from traditional Mexican fare to Mediterranean-Asian fusion, seafood, Italian and an international buffet. There is also an ice cream parlor, coffee shop and several swim-up bars for the grown-ups.

Rooms are designed to sleep up to four guests, with one king bed or two double beds, furnished balconies and ocean views. Kids will especially love the swim-out rooms with direct access to the pool from your private terrace.

Evermore Orlando Resort

The Evermore Orlando Resort opened in January 2024 with a mix of vacation homes and the Conrad Orlando. Until recently, you could only use Hilton points for stays at the Conrad. However, in January, Evermore opened up Hilton Honors benefits to guests of the resort’s 69 houses, 206 flats and 41 villas.

Evermore Orlando Resort is only 15 minutes away from Walt Disney World and about 25 minutes from Universal Orlando, but there is also plenty of on-property fun. The 8-acre Evermore Bay lagoon is more than just a place to swim or relax on the sandy beach. You can also paddleboard, kayak race down the waterslide or see how far you can fly on the rope swing.

The resort has several dining options, as well as on-site grocery ordering and in-room private chef experiences.

There are plenty of options depending on the size of your group, including two- and four-bedroom villas near the golf course, four-bedroom flats that surround the lagoon and houses with up to 11 bedrooms. Some homes have private heated pools, arcade games, theater rooms and other amenities the kids will love.

Dreams Madeira Resort, Spa & Marina

Dreams Madeira Resort, Spa & Marina is a luxury all-inclusive resort tucked along the edge of the Portuguese island of Madeira’s rocky coast. This upscale resort opened in October 2024 and has 366 rooms and suites, many with private balconies or terraces overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

While kids and teens play at the kids club, adults can visit the full-service spa, play a round of golf or relax at the adults-only pool.

The resort’s main pool spans three levels and has a splash park for kids; you can also access a private beach. Daily activities range from live music to outdoor movies. Water sports like fishing, snorkeling and paddleboarding are available for an additional fee. Seven unique restaurants serve Madeiran and international cuisine; they include a disco, lounge and ice cream parlor.

Most guest rooms sleep up to four guests, but the hotel also has family rooms that sleep up to six with a king bed, two twin beds and a sofa bed.

Rates at the Dreams Madeira Resort, Spa & Marina start at $370 per night for 42,000 World of Hyatt points per night for a family of four.

Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa, Fiji

The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa, scheduled to reopen in July after a $35 million renovation, will soon be Fiji’s newest family-friendly hotel.

This oceanfront tropical paradise offers an 18-hole championship golf course, a Heavenly Spa by Westin, a complimentary kids club and two outdoor pools: one for lap swimming and one for families.

There’s a nearby beach that families can visit during the day or dine beside in the evening while enjoying Fijian music and dancing.

The resort’s design highlights the Fijian Bure style, with thatched roofs and natural materials. Guest rooms have oceanfront or garden views, and first-floor rooms have private patios with direct beach access. Standard rooms sleep up to four guests — or you can opt for a two-bedroom suite that sleeps up to six.

Kimpton Tres Rios

Set to open in March after a total renovation and rebranding, the Kimpton Tres Rios will soon be the boutique luxury brand’s first all-inclusive hotel. This 355-room hotel in Mexico’s Riviera Maya is situated along the shores of the Caribbean Sea. Guests can access a kids club, four pools and a kids’ splash zone with waterslides. They can also enjoy Mexico’s natural beauty by hiking the resort’s nature trails, exploring cenotes, and observing the diverse animal and plant life. The resort has seven restaurants and five bars, allowing plenty of options for guests.

For larger families, several room types sleep up to five guests, including a studio with two queen beds and a private furnished balcony with a soaking tub. The resort also offers swim-out suites as well as rooms with ocean views and plunge pools — all with fully stocked minibars and 24-hour room service.

Rates at the Kimpton Tres Rios start at $474 for IHG members or 120,000 IHG One Rewards points per night, based on double occupancy.

AutoCamp Sequoia

Opening this spring, AutoCamp Sequoia is just outside Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks. Its location is not the only thing that makes it a solid starting point for outdoor adventures: All AutoCamp locations offer glamping-style accommodations, ranging from Airstreams to cabins and canvas tents, that let you commune with nature without sacrificing luxury.

AutoCamp Sequoia’s in-room (or in-cabin, as it were) features include amenities like heating and air conditioning, Tempur-Pedic mattresses, upscale bathing setups, and outdoor fire pits and dining areas. AutoCamp Sequoia also has an outdoor pool, a kids play area, lawn games, board games, and an on-site general store with local snacks, drinks and cooking necessities. Plus, there’s a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with grab-and-go items, coffee, tea, beer and wine.

Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center

Opening this spring, Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center, just 7 miles from downtown San Diego, is the sixth property for the Gaylord brand and the first on the West Coast. Like other Gaylord properties, this 1,600-room resort features gorgeous glass atriums, several on-site dining options and a water park with waterslides, a lazy river, a wave pool, a surf simulator, a splash area and multiple pools.

Some guest rooms overlook the gardened atrium, while others have views of the mountains, marina or bay. I always recommend people stay in an atrium room at any Gaylord resort because it offers a unique perspective you can’t get at other hotels.

The hotel is conveniently near several area attractions, including Sesame Place San Diego, SeaWorld San Diego and the San Diego Zoo.

Zion Wildflower

Best Western Hotels & Resorts acquired Zion Wildflower in Virgin, Utah, in 2024, making it the brand’s first glamping resort. Zion Wildflower sits at the entrance to Zion National Park and offers several accommodation types. Families can choose from a canvas tent, cabin or covered wagon; some accommodations offer private bathrooms and air conditioning, while others provide a more traditional camping experience for families who prefer to rough it in style.

Zion Wildflower has an on-site cafe, outdoor pool and hot tub, fire pits, volleyball courts, soccer fields and table tennis. The staff can also help you arrange guided tours and experiences within Zion National Park.

Zemi Miches All-Inclusive, Curio Collection by Hilton

Scheduled to open June 30, Zemi Miches All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton will be the first all-inclusive property in the Dominican Republic under the Curio Collection by Hilton brand. Of the 500 rooms at this all-inclusive beachfront resort, 123 are swim-up rooms with private plunge pools so kids can swim morning, noon and night.

Zemi Miches has separate kids and teens clubs, a pool complex with a water park and waterslides, daily arts and cultural activities, nightly entertainment, a fitness center and a full-service spa. In terms of dining, the resort has 11 bars and restaurants serving global cuisine. Guests can also access the beach and enjoy nonmotorized water sports like kayaking, paddleboarding and snorkeling.

Red Cliffs Lodge Zion, A Tribute Portfolio

After undergoing a full renovation, Red Cliffs Lodge Zion joined Marriott Bonvoy’s Tribute Portfolio late last year. This 132-room, pet-friendly hotel is less than 1 mile from Zion National Park in Springdale, Utah.

Surrounded by Zion’s towering red rocks, families can feel close to nature, whether they are swimming in the outdoor pool, sitting by the cozy fireplace in the lobby, soaking in the hot tub or relaxing on the patio outside their room. In addition to a pool and fitness center, the hotel’s amenities include a full-service, all-day restaurant called Scout Bar and Grill.

Villatel Orlando Resort, Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy

Villatel Orlando Resort, Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy is a section of the larger Villatel Orlando Resort compound, which held its grand opening March 3. (The Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy resort is scheduled to open on March 14.) The resort will house 256 apartments with either two or three bedrooms, full kitchens and private balconies. Some will even have games and themed bedrooms, so kids can play even when they’re not at one of Orlando’s world-class theme parks.

The fun continues outside with an on-site water park featuring a lazy river, pool, splash pad and waterslides; basketball and pickleball courts; a fitness center; a golf simulator; and a poolside bar and grill. Guests staying at Villatel Orlando Resort can also access complimentary round-trip shuttle service to Disney World and Universal Orlando (reservations required).

Palmetto Marriott Resort & Spa

The Palmetto Marriott Resort & Spa opened in Palmetto, Florida last summer. As the largest hotel in the Bradenton area, this resort has a lot to offer families, including an outdoor pool, lawn games and pickleball courts. There is also a 24-hour fitness center and full-service spa.

In addition to nearby local restaurants and attractions, this property has several on-site restaurants, including the rooftop Oyster River Bar overlooking the Gulf Coast, a poolside lounge and an all-day eatery serving American fare.

In addition to standard guest rooms, families can opt for Beach Club level rooms with M Club lounge access. The lounge is open from morning through evening and serves breakfast, snacks, cocktails and more.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Orlando Sunset Walk

Embassy Suites by Hilton Orlando Sunset Walk opened last May and will change how you think about the brand. In a first for Embassy Suites, this property offers condominium-style accommodations rather than the traditional two-room suites for which the brand is known. Condo sizes range from studios to two-bedroom suites. Studios have a kitchenette with a microwave, sink and minifridge, while larger units have full kitchens with a refrigerator, microwave, oven, stove and dishwasher.

The property features a large outdoor pool with a splash playground for kids, a poolside bar and grill, and a 24-hour fitness center. Like other Embassy Suites locations, the hotel hosts a free breakfast buffet each morning and cocktail hour each evening in the lobby. Its location near the Sunset Walk shopping and dining district gives easy access to nearby attractions, and Disney World is less than a 15-minute drive away.

Monterey Beach Hotel

The Monterey Beach Hotel joined Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio last August after a major renovation and rebrand. This effortlessly elegant beachfront property has private beach access, a heated outdoor pool, complimentary e-bikes for exploring Monterey Bay and multiple dining venues with ocean views.

We recommend booking an ocean-view room and using the in-room binoculars for whale watching and sunset gazing. Other amenities include a Lavazza coffee machine, DS & Durga Big Sur After Rain bath amenities and refillable aluminum water bottles. The hotel offers several pet-friendly rooms, and select rooms have direct pool access.
